Description

AIESEC in Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) reaffirms its commitment to empowering young people through its flagship program, Global Volunteer. From June 23 to August 2025, several USU students were sent to various countries to take part in international social projects that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the International Exchange Participant (IXP) initiative, USU students were deployed to Sri Lanka, South Korea, Kenya, and Vietnam, where they directly engaged in impactful social missions such as children’s education, environmental conservation, and community development.

The Global Volunteer program is part of AIESEC in USU’s continuous effort to broaden students’ global perspectives while honing their leadership, cross-cultural communication, and empathy skills. Inspirational examples come from students such as Atikah Shabrina, Deny Arifin, Alya Vania Rahma, and Zahra Afifah Nasution, who have proven that USU students possess the potential to play an active role at the international level.

This program not only provides participants with valuable real-world experiences, but also aligns with Universitas Sumatera Utara’s vision to nurture graduates who are socially conscious and globally competitive. Through regular orientations, intensive training, and continuous mentorship, AIESEC in USU ensures that every participant gains the most from their journey. The success of this program also marks a concrete step in strengthening students’ soft skills and global competencies, inspiring more young people to become agents of positive change on the international stage.

The participation of USU students in the Global Volunteer initiative has further enhanced USU’s international presence. Their ability to collaborate across cultures not only enriches personal experiences but also expands USU’s global network and opens up new opportunities for academic and organizational partnerships worldwide.

With the growing number of students involved, USU is well-positioned to expand collaborations in human resource development, joint research, and global social initiatives. These efforts directly contribute to improving USU’s educational quality and provide greater career opportunities for its students on a global scale.

Through this initiative, AIESEC in USU continues to promote the Global Volunteer program as a strategic platform to strengthen students’ soft skills and international competencies, empowering them to become future leaders with global impact.
