DITMAWALUMNI USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again achieved a national-level accomplishment. Six USU Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams have successfully advanced to the 39th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), which will be held at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Semarang, from November 2–7, 2026.
The six teams represent four PKM schemes: two teams in the Exact Sciences Research (PKM-RE) scheme, two teams in the Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) scheme, one team in the Social Humanities Research (PKM-RSH) scheme, and one team in the Creative Initiative (PKM-KC) scheme.
This achievement was secured after the participants went through the PKM Implementation Progress Assessment (PKP2) stage in September 2026, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek).
Since late 2025, USU has submitted 190 proposals under the PKM funding scheme and 34 proposals under the incentive scheme. Of these proposals, six teams received funding, while two other teams received incentives.
Notably, all USU PKM teams that received funding successfully advanced to the 39th PIMNAS. Thus, USU recorded a 100 percent qualification rate among funded teams advancing to Indonesia’s most prestigious national student scientific competition.
“Of the six funded teams, all of them qualified for PIMNAS. This demonstrates that PKM development and mentoring at USU are becoming increasingly mature,” a USU representative said.
This achievement demonstrates USU’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and a culture of research and entrepreneurship among students. It also reflects the importance of continuous mentoring, from proposal preparation through program implementation and evaluation.
With six teams advancing to the 39th PIMNAS, USU is ready to compete alongside leading higher education institutions from across Indonesia. The delegates are expected to deliver their best performances, win medals, and bring pride to Universitas Sumatera Utara at the national level.
Their participation also serves as motivation for other USU students to continue developing creative and innovative ideas and to actively participate in various student achievement development programs.
