In addition to capturing student dissertations, this activity is also expected to provide input for improving the quality of Higher Education, especially in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and as a means of promotion to increase the attractiveness of the field of study or courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the community. This was conveyed by the Head of the Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni Affairs (BKK) USU Hotma Karo - Karo, SE, when giving a speech as well as officially opening the ON MIPA PT activities at Universitas Sumatera Utara level, which took place at the USU Faculty of Pharmacy Hall on Wednesday (28/2/2018).
Hotma also added that this ON MIPA activity is divided into three stages, namely:
Stage I: College level, which will produce the seven best students in each field.
Phase II: The regional level will produce 64 of the best students.
Stage III: National level, which will produce 20 best students.
"The USU Bureau of Student Affairs and Alumni Affairs has conducted ON MIPA PT Selection activities for University of North Sumatra students for stage I. Through this selection, seven students will be selected to represent the university. Through this selection, seven students will be netted who will represent USU at the Regional Level Phase II, which Kopertis Region I will carry out. Of course, we all hope all USU representatives can qualify for stage III at the National Level, "said Hotma.
The event was attended by 215 ON MIPA participants from several USU faculties, including the Faculty of Agriculture (21 people), the Faculty of Engineering (52 people), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (86 people), the Faculty of Pharmacy (93 people), and the Faculty of Forestry (44 people). The participants were divided into four fields that would be tested: mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Also present in this activity were Jury Coordinator Dr Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc, and 8 ON MIPA 2018 judges: Dr Saleha Hanum, M.Si, Prof. Dr Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc, Dr Suyanto, M.Kom, and Prof. Dr Tulus Vor. Dipl. Math., M.Si, Dr. Cut Fatima Zuhra, M.Si, Saharman Gea, S.Si, M.Si., Ph.D, Dr. Perdinan Sinuhaji, M.Si and Dr. Tulus Ikhsan Nasution, S.Si., M.Sc.
