DITMAWALUMALUMNI USU – The delegation of the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), competing as the Soepomo Team, achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the National Legal Debate Competition organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
The competition, held from August 15 to October 2, 2026, was attended by 14 teams from various higher education institutions across Indonesia. At the competition, the Soepomo Team won First Place and also received the Best Speaker award.
The national-level legal debate competition served as a platform for students to hone their legal analysis, critical reasoning, argumentation, and academic communication skills in responding to various legal issues.
The Soepomo Team consisted of three FH USU students serving as the main delegates: Zaskia Alia Putri Sidabutar as Head of Delegation, Rafael Batista Tampubolon, and Teuku Muhammad Raihan. During the preparation process, the team was also supported by Hamit Tantio Lumban Gaol and Rhecia Rianda Syahla, who served as team officials.
Winning First Place demonstrated the Soepomo Team’s ability to develop legal arguments systematically and logically, supported by comprehensive analysis. Meanwhile, the Best Speaker award recognized the ability of one of the delegation members to present arguments clearly, coherently, and convincingly throughout the competition.
The achievement further adds to the accomplishments of FH USU students at the national level. The Soepomo Team’s success is expected to inspire other USU students to continue developing their competencies, build confidence in competing, and achieve excellence through various academic competitions at the national and international levels.
