HUMAS USU – Students of Universitas Sumatera Utara once again achieved remarkable accomplishments at the 2026 National Karate Championship PB FORKI Chairman Cup IV held in Bandung from May 9–12, 2026. Two USU students successfully brought home gold medals and made the university proud at the national level.
A student from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology USU, Leica Al Humaira Lubis, won the Gold Medal in the Senior Women’s Kumite +68 Kg category. Leica delivered an outstanding performance and defeated a karate athlete from DKI Jakarta with a score of 6–3 in the final match. This achievement marked a special milestone as Leica’s first gold medal at the National Championship after previously winning silver medals in two consecutive national championships.
Currently, Leica is an athlete under the Indonesian National Karate Training Center and is preparing to compete in the 2026 Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Championship and the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
Meanwhile, a student from the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, Meiviona Zuhrina, also secured a Gold Medal in the Senior Women’s Kumite -61 Kg category. In the final round, Meiviona performed impressively by defeating karate athlete Salma Aulia from DKI Jakarta with a score of 6–3.

This achievement became Meiviona’s second gold medal at the National Championship. Previously, she had earned several national-level achievements, including first place at the 2025 Riau National Karate Championship. Following this competition, Meiviona will prepare for the Indonesian National Team selection process in preparation for the Southeast Asian Karate Federation (SEAKF) Championship.
The achievements earned by Leica Al Humaira Lubis and Meiviona Zuhrina reflect the spirit, hard work, and dedication of Universitas Sumatera Utara students in achieving excellence and bringing pride to the university at both national and international levels.
