PIMNAS will be held online on October 26-30, 2021, with seven series of activities and takes the theme: "Towards a Golden Indonesia Through Collaboration for Innovation in the Framework of Local Wisdom".
On that occasion, USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin launched the 34th PIMNAS mascot as a Nias parrot named ITO. ITO is taken from "partuturan" in Batak customs, a male designation or call to women or vice versa of different sexes. ITO has a more specific meaning, an acronym for Intelligent, Tough and Outstanding, each element immersed in the appearance of the 34th PIMNAS mascot. The event also launched the official logo, website and Instagram of the 34th PIMNAS.
Dr. Mury said that hosting the 34th PIMNAS is an honor for USU. "USU can host because USU is believed to be capable," he said.
He hopes that the implementation of PIMNAS will run smoothly and successfully until the end and that it will encourage students in Indonesia to be more active in innovating. PIMNAS is a momentum that will produce many young scientists whose work impacts the good of society and the nation. Dr. Muryanto also hopes that USU media partners can fully support the organization of the 34th PIMNAS through positive publications.

The Student Creativity Program (PKM) contested is in entrepreneurship, exact research, social humanities research, creative application of technology, community service, written ideas and constructive futuristic ideas, which are held for the first time in PIMNAS.
"The estimated number of participants who will participate in PIMNAS 34 is approximately 2,200 students who will be guided by 700 accompanying lecturers who attend online and 105 judges who are expected to attend offline," said Doli.
