DITMAWALUMNI USU – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) student Taufik Ihsan Harahap won a Bronze Medal in the Poster Presentation category under the Agriculture subtheme at the PENA 3 National Essay Competition. The competition was held on October 3–4, 2026, at Bikasoga Hall, Bandung, West Java, and brought together students from universities across Indonesia.

Taufik Ihsan Harahap is a student in the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, USU, with Student ID 230404006. He participated in the competition individually and demonstrated his ability to communicate ideas through a poster presentation on the agriculture subtheme.

Preparation for the competition involved several stages, including journal research, collaborative essay writing, multiple rounds of revisions, and poster design. These tasks were completed alongside his regular academic activities despite the limited preparation time. Nevertheless, all preparations were completed on schedule.

For Taufik, participating in PENA 3 was a memorable experience. He shared that the event gave him the opportunity to learn many things, meet students from various regions across Indonesia, and experience presenting his work directly before a panel of national-level judges.

“It was exciting, and I learned a lot. Meeting students from all over Indonesia and presenting directly before national-level judges was an unforgettable experience,” Taufik said.

This achievement reflects USU students’ enthusiasm for developing critical thinking, conducting research, and communicating ideas creatively and scientifically. It is expected to inspire other students to continue producing work and participating in various national-level academic competitions.

Through the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, Universitas Sumatera Utara continues to encourage students to develop their potential in both academic and non-academic fields as part of its efforts to nurture students who are excellent, innovative, and competitive.
