DITMAWALUMNI USU -  Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an Education Bazaar event in the framework of the Socialization of the National Selection of New Student Admissions (SNPMB) 2025. This event invited hundreds of school principals from various Senior High Schools (SMA), Vocational High Schools (SMK), and Madrasah Aliyah throughout North Sumatra. In his speech, USU Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., conveyed USU's commitment to continuously improve the quality of higher education in North Sumatra. “Universitas Sumatera Utara has entered its 72nd year and is one of the oldest universities outside Java. Currently, we have 174 study programs covering various levels of education, from diploma to doctoral,” he said.

This socialization event is not only a place to introduce USU's entrance pathways, but also an opportunity for prospective students to get to know more about the study programs and various scholarships offered. Director of the USU Directorate of Education Development, Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., emphasized that this activity was held to minimize the risk of choosing wrong majors among prospective students. With the delivery of in-depth and informative material about the characteristics of each study program, it is hoped that prospective students can choose a major that suits their interests and abilities from the start, so that the lecture process can run optimally.

USU also provides funding support through various scholarships for prospective students who are financially limited. Director of USU's Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, Rahma Yurliani, M.Psi., Psychologist, said that scholarships are not only provided by ministries and the government, but also from the private sector. “Don't worry, God willing, there will be many opportunities and paths opened if we have the will to try,” she said.

The financial assistance provided includes subsidies of tuition fee, living expenses, as well as support at the final study stage, such as assistance for thesis writing, which is channeled by various parties to ease the burden on students. Through various supporting programs and opportunities available, USU hopes to create an inclusive educational ecosystem and provide maximum opportunities for every prospective student to achieve academic success and realize their dreams.
