DITMAWALUMNI USU – The Karate Student Activity Unit (UKM Karate) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again achieved outstanding results through its participation in the Andalas Open Karate Championship, held from August 28–30, 2026. In the competition, USU students demonstrated their best abilities and brought home several medals and a prestigious award.
At the championship, UKM Karate USU won 6 Gold, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals, as well as the Best of the Best Senior Women award.
The Gold medals were won by Meiviona Zuhrina (2215012074), Marcella Oktavia Simanjuntak (240502133), Friska Esi Sarah Panggabean (251000069), Alya Lubis (240503133), and Juang Invanteri Buulolo (240404071).
Meanwhile, the Silver medals were secured by Marcella Oktavia Simanjuntak (240502133) and Furqanul Faruq (25000004).
Additional achievements came from Hernan March Keanu Pasaribu (230404105), Furqanul Faruq (25000004), and Juang Invanteri Buulolo (240404071), who each contributed a Bronze medal to the UKM Karate USU delegation.
In addition to the medals, Meiviona Zuhrina (2215012074) achieved a special distinction by winning the Best of the Best Senior Women award. This prestigious recognition represented one of the highest achievements of the competition and further complemented UKM Karate USU’s successful performance.
This achievement demonstrates the enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication of USU students in developing their potential through sports. It is also expected to inspire other students to continue pursuing excellence at the regional, national, and international levels.
