DITMAWALUMNI USU — Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) hosted the 25th IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2026, held from August 24–27, 2026. The event served as a platform for students from member countries of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) to compete while strengthening relationships, collaboration, and friendship among students across the region.
At the event, students from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated and achieved outstanding results across various categories. Overall, the USU delegation brought home 12 medals, comprising 6 Gold, 4 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, as well as the Best Cultural Performance award in the Culture category.
In the Seminar category, USU students secured two Gold medals through the Best Paper and Best Presentation awards. Both awards were won by Siti Nur Salsabila, T.M. Rifky Azhar, and Fikri Tamimi.
USU students also achieved notable results in the Mix Group Seminar category. Siti Nur Salsabila won Gold – Best Effort, while Fikri Tamimi earned Gold – Best Mix Group and Silver – Best Creative Video. T.M. Rifky Azhar also contributed a Bronze – Best Effort award.
In the Culture category, the USU student delegation won the prestigious Best Cultural Performance award. The award was earned by Alwiansyah Rifki Siagian, Anya Riskirana, Azhari Alfian Reza, Mita Fauziah, Muhammad Azhar Luthfi Siregar, Muhammad Yusuf Harahap, Mutiara Pritasya, Nabila Raya Syahira, Nadhifa Rahmania Syahira, and Tazya Margaretha Sitohang.
Meanwhile, in Tennis, USU students once again delivered strong performances, winning Gold in the Mixed Doubles event through the pairing of Annisa Putri Arneliani and M. Fauzan Nurrahman. Sharika Putri also won Silver in the Women’s Singles event, while Yoga Nugraha Arnelian secured Bronze in the Men’s Singles event.
In Badminton, Muhammad Alvin Prayoga won Gold in the Men’s Singles event. Another achievement came from the Mixed Doubles pair of Fransiska Pray Adventri Sitopu and Muhammad Haykal, who secured Silver.
USU students also demonstrated strong teamwork in Mini Soccer. The USU team won the Silver Medal, with members Sigit Prasetio, Fajar Hijratullah, Rendyansyah Putra Surya Meiza Harahap, Dzakwan Yasin Kakomole Kuada, Rafi Izzudin Linardi, Muhammad Syarif Al Fawwaz, Wandi Imanuel, Vicky Odoric Sibarani, Juan Putra Hamdani Daulay, Hafis Zidan Amin Lumban Toruan, Glen Uwel Patardo Hutahaean, and Muhammad Rafly.
These achievements demonstrate the enthusiasm, hard work, and capabilities of USU students in competing at the international level. Participation in the 25th IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2026 also provided students with an opportunity to develop their skills, expand their networks, and build relationships with students from various higher education institutions across the IMT-GT region.
The Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations (Ditmawalumni) of USU expressed its appreciation and pride in the students’ achievements. These accomplishments are expected to inspire other USU students to continue developing their potential, actively participating in various competitions, and bringing pride to the university.
